Homestead Being Restored

So nice to drive by Ercildoune Reserve in Cranbourne West and see works taking place onsite. A project Conversation Caravan worked on in 2019 with the City of Casey Council to engage with residents about the site and landscaping options.

Over 60 community members met onsite and provided their feedback, including a relation of one of the original owners.

It was fabulous opportunity to walk the site and talk about ways to protect and restore the site, with a view to future enjoyment. Inclusive of pathways, opportunities for learning and community events and maintaining the peace enjoyed by surrounding residents.

The consultation reports including Phase 1 and Phase 2 can be seen on the project page:

Our engagement initially focused on the landscaping on the site with the restoration of the heritage homestead to be considered when funds became available. Funding of $1.196 million dollars meant that the building restoration could be prioritised alongside landscaping works. Meaning the landscaping can be better integrated with the newly restored homestead.

Stay tuned on updates on its opening. In the meantime, here are some before and current progress shots.
